"The U.S. AR market witnessed further consolidation at the top while smaller vendors mostly relied on older models to maintain a position," said Ramon T. Llamas, research director with IDC's AR/VR team. "XREAL took a major leap forward and with it, so did consumer experiences in AR. Meanwhile, full-year availability of Magic Leap's second-generation headset resulted in continued growth for the company. These were enough to offset the losses among the remaining companies struggling to collect single-digit market share."
