This IDC Perspective discusses the impact of generative AI (GenAI) on enterprise connectivity and key use cases to improve business outcomes. The AI everywhere chapter of enterprise digital transformation has begun and is now a critical piece of how enterprises move down the path to becoming more digital centric. Enterprises have already seen the impact of GenAI on their connectivity investment road map as use cases impact data creation, movement, and functions. Businesses will align investment in appropriate connectivity segments to ensure that key use cases are optimized and will use AI to improve connectivity-related business functions."AI and generative AI's horizontal impact on connectivity will be multifaceted; however, the largest share of enterprises believes that it will have a direct impact on network management and security," commented Paul Hughes, research director for Future Enterprise Connectivity Strategies at IDC. "GenAI will however power use cases that will have a direct impact on business efficiency and productivity and aligning connectivity investments to support the increased level of data will be essential."
